"Nah, we shouldn't be. Especially you since you weren't there." Phoenix answers. "On the way back to Orrussus, we caught some of the sailors trying to sneak into where we had our money stored. They attacked when we caught them and we fought, leaving two of the three tied up and unconcious. The third had run away at teh start of the fight. Somehow, while we were up on deck, some of the thieves managed to steal a couple thousand of our gold. Anyway, when Lookspring went back to make sure no one was messing with our stuff another sailor accused him of attacking the two sailors that were tied up. So they're probably gonna accuse us of beating up those sailors for no reason while we're charging them with stealing from us. The truth is on our side and all, but they say justice is blind. Who knows what'll happen." she finishes her recounting of the main points.Manzanita said:
As Phoenix finishes explaining the situation to Rowan, Lookspring and another group of guards approach. Two of the guards speak a moment out of hearing range and then they lead the group on through the city to the front of a large building. There are a lot of scholarly types about and few adventurer types. One of the Guards speaks to the three adventurers. I will escort you in to a waiting room where we will wait until you are called to enter. We will not require your weapons, but do not forget we are here, do not attempt any bad decisions. Think through your choices. I dont think we will have any problems but I give this speach to all I leave in possession of their belongings.

Rowan is nervous, not trusting the justice of the city. He's happy to keep his weapon, though he would relinquish it if asked. He nods grimly, unable to match Phoenix's light spirits, and follows the others inside. He pays close attention to their path, thinking he might have to retrace it quickly if trouble strarts.

Lookspring snorts at the part about making bad decisions. I swear he looked right at me when he said that. He looks all about, mentally mapping out escape routes and noting guard positions. If this trial goes against us, I may have to make a run for it... He feels a bit twitchy with all these guards around, but he does his best to keep his hands away from his weapons. Instead he fidgets, rubbing his hands together.
The Guard Captain leads you to a comfortably furnished room. After what seems an eternity a door opposite the one you entered opens and a well dressed halfling enters. Good you are ready I trust. I would like to thank you for helping us discern the right of this matter. Follow me if you please. He leads you to stand before 4 podiums, 3 of which are occupied. The halfling then introduces you: I would like to present The members of this court, indicating a Human - Ostler Feldrin, indicating another Human - The senior member of this court Nurglost Kriltch, indicating a Dwarf the only member in armor wearing very fine chain shirt with 2 hammers at his side- Varrdig Darafayen, and finally I am Melubb Darley. He walks to his position behind the previously unoccupied podium. The senior member Nurglost Kriltch begins speaking. Accusations have been made, we have heard arguments for both sides, it is now time to hear from the last witnesses. Nurglost points to 2 groups of people seated to the side, in one group you recognize Captain Purdy your employer, in the other group you recognize Uggla the one Purdy hired you to rescue. Nurglost continues: Captain Purdy has petitioned this court for trade rights, he has included in his petition the names Phoenix and Lookspring. Be you these named? And whom is the 3rd person?

Rowan finds the ways of the big city intimidating at times. And the way the barbarian deals with intimidation is confrontation. Or at least, being loud. As such, Rowan steps forward when questions, and booms out, "I am Rowan McTavish. I've signed on with these two here," he indicates Lookspring and Phoenix. He doesn't finish his sentense, however, as he's not sure if their quest is really public information.

Lookspring stares at Uggla with a slightly confused expression on his face. He thinks to himself, Wasn't he missing? I seem to remember leaving him behind... maybe the captain was confused... He shakes his head a bit, then turns to answer the court. He says, "Aye, I'm Lookspring. I was recently employed by Captain Purdy."
