RPG Crowdfunding News – Undying Corruption, Elementara, SLIME, Code Warriors, and more

This week, I look at campaigns ending between October 21 and 27. This sampling covers a lot of 5e and original systems. If you’re looking for projects inspired by Tron, Spelljammer, investigating your own character’s death, and more, there are some winners this week.

Undying Corruption: A Korean 5e Adventure from Nine Heavens Press

• WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? This is an acting and roleplaying heavy RPG. It’s anime so your powers come from shouting out attack names and pre-attack monologues. As you roleplay, the more you engage, the more points the GM awards you for your actions. The action is inspired by Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, and One Piece, going for high emotion in combat. If the idea of hyperactive roleplaying speaks to you, this RPG is worth checking out.

Shipwrecks of the Astral Sea: The Gilded Molly from Jerry Joe Seltzer

SLIME - a 5e Splat-Book from SkeletonKey Games

• WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? This book covers all things gelatinous, gooey, and oozy. Coming in at 96 pages, SLIME details 5e, uh, slimes with new slime-based subclasses, ooze ancestries, spells, monsters, and more nastiness than you can contain in a bucket. The artwork and layout in the previews looks inspired with sickening shades of green, as do the cards, dossier, scrolls, and maps you can get with this project. If you’re looking for slime for your campaign, this is worth checking out.

Code Warriors RPG from NerdBurger Games

• WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? The setting and premise are akin to Mad Max meets Tron, basically the mainframe is crashing and you, program, are fighting through the computer apocalypse. Tron, Wreck-it Ralph, The Matrix, Ready Player One, and more have stories set in computers, but they need an extra level of danger to make running around in a laptop compelling. In Code Warriors, the hard drive crashing is that secret sauce. For the programs, it’s life or death and that makes this a game worth campaigning through. The system is similar to the ENNIE Award nominated Good Strong Hands, which should give an idea of the quality powering this RPG. If you’re interested, check out the campaign page for more details.

Ugh, Undying Corruption may ACTUALLY have a 5E Kitsune option that may ACTUALLY be the version I'm looking for, and it doesn't come out till November 2023.

I'm not sure if this is my thing, but it's a neat idea and the art looks great.

Elementara: Guide to the Seven Elements for 5e from Plus Three Press

I'm sure this is a good product, but the name and art gives me cheaply made kids CGI show for promoting toys ages 7-12 vibes, like Slugterra.

I'm also getting ReBoot vibes from there. The final episodes of Season 3 of ReBoot even involves the characters dealing with an inevitable system crash.
