Blaise gave a wan smile at his captain’s flirtations. He knew what it was like to not be completely in control of his own actions and he wouldn’t be taking advantage of someone in that situation even if it was self-inflicted.

He unwrapped the handkerchief from his hand after they leave the dwarf’s home revealing a smooth palm with no trace of his carvings. “I apologize for the theatrics, Captain,” he says as he hands her back her cloth, “but superstitious men often are swayed by such shows.”

He grins at Zef’s antics and motions Nia to come closer. With a whisper, he asks, “If the djab is here for him, could we just give the spirit what it wants and let it be on its way?”

She shook her head.

"I tink dere is a gap between what it was brought for...and what it wants," the witch said. "It has taken what it was brought for. It wants more. De former captain may have given it a...loophole, by refusin' to go quiet into de beyond, is what I tink. Dat, or the bokor who summoned de djab was sloppy, and didn't bind it to leave when de task was done."

"If we had time, I'd say we seek him out and find out. But dere is no way to tell how long dat would take."

With that, Nia shrugged.

"Killing Van Djik could send it back. Or it could simply end the spell binding it to de ship, releasing it onto de island...and countless more ships."

"...of course, in fightin' it to banish it, we could do de same by mistake if eeeeeeverytin' doesn't go just right."

She glanced sidelong at Blaise.

"You still want to do dis?"

OOC: I am assuming Kat can hear everything being right there. If not, let me know.

Katerina took the cloth back but her eyes were on Blaise's now healed hand. "Sooooo are you a priest or shomething? How did you do that? Alsho," she smiled up at him, "You can call me Katerina or Kat or shomething else way lessh formal than Captain all the time. Let'sh get a ship first, okay?" Then she laughed again. "Or at leasht do it in front of other people who will be on that ship. But Kat is my name. My father the big bad pirate captain ushed to call me his Kitty Kat even. No one would call him that though, theey'd lose a head. " More laughs.

Kat responded rather loudly, "How do you kill shomeone who is already DEAD? He's dead," she pointed towards the hut. "How do you do that?"

Nia shrugs. "Dere are always ways, for de determined. De question is always, 'is it wort de cost?' Not 'can it be done?'"

"For us...not wort de cost. Better to deal wit de djab directly."

Etienne is used to Native Spirits- like the Algonquin Manitou. He feels uncomfortable with undead Carabbean entities like this Djab. He forgot to note what the French merchant told him about his magical pelt.

But he still remembers what the old Medecine man told him about the Dreamcatcher, when he confessed he got nightmares since he had this "gift" in his possession.

"I cannot heal your soul, fur hat, for I only have the power to heal a man's body and mind. You must look to your soul. I can tell you this, however: the weight you feel, the weight in this dream-catcher, it will not be lifted until the white skin finds its true purpose. What feels like a burden now will release you."
.

Maybe this is time to remind the crew about his "Joker".

Blaise grinned at Katerina, “No, I’m not a priest. I try to avoid vows whenever possible. I just know a few tricks that help put on a show from time to time. That’s all. And, I’ll try to remember your name, Captain.” He winked at her with laughter in his eyes.

He turned towards Nia as she finished her question, “That depends on what you think I want to do. Escort Van Djik to the fate he deserves? When the moment comes, absolutely. Kill the djab? I’m open to it, but I’m still hoping to find a way to make it work for us.”

Blaise gives a nod towards Nia, "My heart does not beat for the djab. It's either an obstacle or a tool. If a tool, then I say that we aim it towards our enemies. The gossip on the island is that another ship is after the same prize as us. I wonder how fast they would sail if a djab infected their ship? If it cannot be a tool, we weaken it however we can and sever its ties to our world. If Van Djik's blood will solve that problem, I, for one, am happy to volunteer his services."

"If you ask what my heart does beat for then allow me to share what I took from the dwarf's tale. Van Djik died on a ship years ago. He was murdered by a coward who counted his life as worth more than his principles. That dwarf we met in that building is an empty shell and if his past self could speak to us through the years, he would beg us to put an end to that disgrace upon his name. As far as I am concerned the bokor was the hero of that tale and if fate ever allows me to meet him, I intend to buy that man a drink."

"You make too many assumptions, and choose sides too quickly," Nia says. "I will give you dat one for free, since our captain has taken a shine to you."

"De djab is not a tool, or weapon. If you do not respect it, it will take you, just as it did de Coral Curse."

This conversation had turned quite more serious than Katerina was prepared for. Still she added her thoughts.

"I may be a no good dirty pirate who will do no good dirty deedsh to get what she wants but even I am not crazy enough to messh with trying to direct a djab we know nothing about. If at shome point the thing can be reashoned with, if they can be reashoned with at all, then perhapsh there may be a way however if you lishtened to that dead dwarf, he is shuffering a fate worse than death and while I have no problem shending shomeone to see Davy Jones I only know of one person evil enough I would rishk messing with a djab to shuffer forever with."

Kat stopped for a moment to steady herself, finding standing up straight was quite difficult.

"Wallace and his crew are just shailors. Wallace is a &^% %*&% %&(* captain and while I have no love for him he ish just a man."
She stopped to consider what they had encountered over the past few days, "I think. I think he'sh just a man. Delaying him would be fantashtic, but not like that. If only to avoid potentially shcrewing ourshelves."
