For those playing the current edition, lead designer Nathan Dowdell posted a blog entry discussing compatibility between First and Second Editions. Also included are general guidelines for updating player characters, NPCs, starships, and more to the Second Edition rules.

Additionally, Modiphius released the Star Trek Adventures 2e Quick Start for free on DriveThruRPG this past week featuring a TOS-era adventure “The Celestial Algorithm” plus rules and seven pre-generated characters to introduce new players to the game or introduce the new rules to returning players.

I am so very tempted. I am trying not to collect a bunch of RPG books that won't see much use, but STA is really great and the second edition looks like an honest improvement.

Coriolis uses a variant of the Mutant: Year Zero engine, not 2d20. And I don't think it's getting a new edition, but rather a prequel or something like that. But I could be wrong on that.

I believe Modiphius handles distribution for Free League (and also Helmgast) abroad, so it's a pretty easy mistake to make.
