Star Wars RPG Idea?

Covid kinda killed off the D&D group but it looks like it's gone here and enough of them want to keep going.

Looks like we may start over. I ran a one shot D6 game that went down well.

All my material is old legends material.

Depending on what the new players want I might change the timeline. Knights if the Old Republic or the Legacy era.

4000 years before the OT or 140 odd years post RotJ.

So need a new plotline if we don't do rebels vs empire. Jedi or Sith remnants may be around.

I don't want to redo an existing plot. The last SWSE books did have some interesting plot hooks in the Unknown Regions book.

So thinking of some ancient threat type thing either involving AI or some sort of synthetics. It's not really a major Star Wars plotline in the old legends material but I can work in elements such as the Rakata.

Human replica droids are a thing as well. Would also be willing to mix bio organics for an idea that's it the typical AI vs humans plot.

IDK if anyone wants to play a Jedi or other force user.

Legend
Someone is kidnapping neutral senators before a crucial bill is to be voted on involving increased restrictions on droid intelligence and replacing them with bio-mechanical replicants in favor of seeing the bill passed. In addition to the abductions, a hit has been planned on the opposition's most powerful senator.

It turns out a failing droid manufacturing company is behind the kidnappings, attempting to ensure their slaved battledroids don't become obsolete by more advanced units (that can likewise think for themselves). They are using captured, modified and reprogrammed replicants to implecate the advanced droid manufacturers. However, something even more sinister is pulling the strings of the company, and this occurance is just the first step in a much deeper plot - this is just a distraction before the real villians make their next move.

There was a droids rights thing in the old legends material.

i really want to run or play in an investigation focused game, start with a murder mystery and expand from there. Start with episodic stories but have clues early on that build up to point to something bigger.

That or Leverage: In Space.

Not a bad idea.

It's definitely Star Wars and probably D6. One player has suggested an Imperial game.

Make the story revolve around a large gambling and hotel complex on a planet, a floating city or a small space station.

Yeah I've got the Wretched Hives of Scum and Villainy book.

There's a casino called the Ace of Sabers run by a cyborg Hutt. Head of security is rumored to be an ex imperial guardsman.
