Though actually, there are no jackals in Egypt. (At least now.)

But there are hyenas in Turkey and Azerbaijan, which is fascinating.
There is debate on what animal Anubis has the head of, though it looks too slender to be a hyena. It is possible hyenas looked different thousands of years go though.

Egyptian wolf was once considered a jackal and are found in the western desert, Hyena are found in egypt too

Anubis is most likely based on the Egyptian Greyhound
