The Bleeding Hart Lodge is one of the first buildings you encounter when traveling to [wiki]Hengistbury Village[/wiki]
from [wiki]Thornbury[/wiki]
in the east. It is built to accommodate a small number of over-night visitors with ten modest rooms for rent at 3 sp a night. Its spacious common room can seat up to 50 comfortably. Though it is usually empty in the evenings, it does very brisk business on weekends, when farmers from all over the countryside visit town to sell their goods at the market. Music and dancing are available whenever [wiki]Three-Fingered Jake[/wiki]
is in town.
The owner and proprietor of the lodge is [wiki]Jarek[/wiki]
, a stout man who is an amiable and accommodating host. Tables are bused by his daughter Elena, and his wife Riel works the kitchen. He hires pot-boys from the poorer families in Hengistbury, but the Mortimer boys are banned from his establishment.
The Bleeding Hart Lodge keeps a warm cellar for brewing ale, which even the most snobbish dwarf will find pleasantly hopped. Traders from the nearest city will occasionally trade a keg of Bleeding Hart ale for whiskey or brandy, which Jarek sells at double price. The lodge also offers wine from [wiki]Tillian Bricklebottom[/wiki]
's small-batch winery.
The Bleeding Hart Lodge's sign depicts a running stag with an arrow in its flank. The lodge has been in Jarek's family for three generations, and is one of the most prominent buildings to have a fully tiled roof. With no sons, he is eagerly on the lookout for young men with promising business acumen to court his daughter.
