The Goldilocks Poll: How Magic is 5e?

5e is high magic for sure. From a quick review of just the Player's Handbook...

• 40 subclasses
• Only 4 non-magic using subclasses (spells or otherwise) available: frenzied berserker, champion, battle master, and assassin
• The other 36 subclasses have either spells, a magical ability. or access to magic (e.g. even the thief gets Use Magic Device as an ability)
• No class has 0 magic-using subclasses

That's 6-8 medium difficulty poops.

And let's not forget, for a truly Deadly poop... while Legendary wiping helps out, you really want plenty of dingleberry minions to keep the action economy balanced.
