The "I Didn't Comment in Another Thread" Thread

Some teens I teach told me that's because colors were not yet invented back in my time...

Note: I was born in 1990...
My grandfather made a fairly serious attempt at convincing myself and my sister that color worked the way it does in that Calvin & Hobbes strip. Would have been around 1976 or '77. That was about a year before my grandmother started in on the anti-Catholic, anti-Irish screed she loved so much and my parents stopped letting either of them spend time in our presence without an adult escort.

Given that gramps at least tacitly accepted his wife's bile it's probably for the best. No idea what less innocent stuff was in his head and I don't ever want to know.

Autumnal

Bruce Baugh, Writer of Fortune
Why, exactly, do I start writing like dispatches from the Soviet or Chinese Politburo when getting goofy in explaining my motives? I don’t know. It’s like some part of my brain is stuck in 1988-89 forever, endlessly rereading primary sources for history classes. I’ll bet Borges or Eco could do something with that for a story.

The Easter cream eggs seem different this year…

The cart follows the horse not the other way around.

EDIT: In a series from Harry Turtledove there's an alien race, that before they implement any technology they wait until everything else is worked out before they introduce the technology. For example, they didn't introduce the actual car until they had all of the safety features, all the side effects etc figured out. It took the aliens a number of centuries (in human years) before they introduced the car. I feel some would like it if humanity worked that way.
