D&D 5E The Rise of Tiamat without playing HotDQ before

Hey guys & gals,

like the title proposes I'm asking myself if I could take my group through othe adventures until they're 7th level and then jump in with Rise of Tiamat? Would that be a big issue due to missing storyline / character knowledge or do you see a possibility to let the PCs jump in right at the beginning of Rise of Tiamat?

That exact issue is addressed in the beginning of RoT, so yes. Some foreshadowing would be in order, but that's it.

Ah that is pretty good news. We started off with homebrewn adventures, now I will put them through higher level version of LMoP and then turn to rise of tiamat. Thx

I'm just about finished running my group through Rise of Tiamat. We jumped right in at the start of the adventure (it had been sent to us as a playtest adventure), and had no problems getting right into it.

I would guess that going in at level 7 wouldn't break anything, though (from running a group through Hoard of the Dragon Queen thus far).
