Day 45: Laying a Trap, Day 10, Mid-Morning
With the message relayed from Sheldon through Merin, Bolo attempts to summon a small ball of light herself. After watching it bounce around her hand she formulates a plan. If the Seekers can use the light balls to lure the sentries closer, we can eliminate them without alerting anyone else. She lets the wisp dissipate and intends to summon another one as close to the sentries as she can, but not closer than 20 paces. She intends to dance the ball around a little to get the attention of the Evipau and attempt to get them to follow it.
Sannit and Turtle intend to lay in wait on either side of an appropriate ambush site with enough cover to hide them. If Bolo can lure the sentries close enough they will attack as one while Bolo will attempt to use way to drain their motility to keep them from fleeing.
Bolo sends their intentions to Merin and Sheldon through the link.
Sannit communicates the plan to Saemund through whispers and hand gestures.
Sannit, Saemund, and Turtle more toward the Evipaun as quietly as possible, attempting to remain concealed. Tor, Merin, and Myth also move closer, Tor moving farther ahead of Merin, in hopes of closing in on the trap with Sannit and Saemund. Sheldon and Indigo continue to flank to the right as they close, hoping to get behind the Evipaun.

At 14 paces distance from her but about 36 paces from the Evipaun, in between the approach of Sannit and Tor, Bolo creates a small ball of light. The light dances up and down a few time until the Evipaun notice it, then it begins to drift away from them traveling in between the approaching trappers.
The male Evipau, upon seeing the light, startles for a second then draws his axes and begins to approach slowly. As he does so the female takes a shot with her bow, missing badly. She, too, begins to close with her partner, knocking another arrow.
As the two draw closer, fixated on the light, Sannit, Saemund, and Turtle begin closing from the left. Tor, Merin, and Myth close from the right, and Sheldon and Indigo begin to close from behind. Sheldon and Indigo do not see any other enemies as they approach from behind.
Being yet too far, Sheldon mentally signals to Merin, who understanding the desire, creates a second ball of light to interact with Bolo's. The 2 Evipaun separate by about a pace and continue toward the 2 lights.
As Sannit decides that he is in a suitable place, Bolo perceives this and dances her light in that direction. Merin, seeing the light move, send his in the same direction. The lights move toward a long dead fallen pine, its root bole making a slight hillock. The Evipaun begin slogging through the muck at a faster pace, enthralled by the lights. This allows Merin's group and Sheldon's to safely increase pace as well.
Turtle is pressed against the root bole with his head covered and appears remarkably like part of the terrain. The lights dart under the trunk and vanish. Turtle lifts his head as the 2 Evipaun are about a pace distant. They realize the hump is alive too late. As they think to attack the bear, they are completely taken by surprise from Sannit and Saemund. Sannit, rising from cover, thrust his spear straight into the unprotected midsection of the male, killing him. Saemund swings his fighting axe overhand as he rises, splitting the skull of the female. They both fall without a sound.
As the other Seekers arrive, Sheldon remarks,
"
That worked well."
