>>What are your favorite images from the WotC Art Galleries?

Ones with utility.
Head shots I can hold up and say "here's the NPC you just met".
Images of items or weapons I can hold up and say "here's the thing you just found"
Official symbols like religious or house insignias I can add to player handouts.

>>Do you prefer color or B&W?

Color.

>>Do like the humorous images?

Meh.

>>Do you like those that are meant to mimic technical drawings?

Not really.

>>Who are your favorite WotC Artists?

Wayne Reynolds has definately come out on top for me.

Lockwood has perenially been one of my favorites, but by far, my favorite WotC artist has been Ron Spencer. His works are always bright and exciting. He has this amazing ability to make shiny armor shinier, raging barbarians ragier, fear inducing dragons fearier, his lines are contantly sharp, and his colors always intense.

I must admit, his later stuff isn't as good as his 80's/90's stuff. I like the DS artwork the most, very rich in colour and depth. He also conveys the 'harshness' of the setting pretty well too...

YES!
Darksun was perfect for Brom's Art.
I want more Darksun and more Brom!

Complete Mage - Master Specialist - Eva Widermann
Tome of Magic - Noctumancer - James Zhang
DMG2 - Tarrasque! - WAR
FCI - Buleazu - Carl Critchlow
FCII - Malebranche - James Zhang
FRCS - Cormanthor - Todd Lockwood
FRCS - Death Tyrant - Lockwood
Cityscape - Cesspit Ooze - Daarken
Cityscape - Kobolds! - Widermann
Frostburn - Frost Giants! - David Hudnutt
CD - Tiamat - WAR

Just a few :)

Do you prefer color or B&W?
Depends on the artist. Some suck at doing color, others suck at B&W.
Generally I prefer color.

Do like the humorous images?
Depends. ;)

Do you like those that are meant to mimic technical drawings?
Not necessarily, though technical skill goes a long way towards making a drawing look cool. I just can't take drawings that look like ass seriously, no matter how cool the subject matter.

Who are your favorite WotC Artists?
Todd Lockwood
Wayne Reynolds
Sam Wood
Eva Widermann
Francis Tsai
Raven Mimura
James Zhang
Daarken
Howard Lyon

Brom has always been my favorite artist. We share the same birthday too :p

I've read that he does all of his work without using models/references due to having a photographic memory.

Since 3e came around, I've really gotten into WAR's stuff. His style is more like how modern comic book artists are drawing (wrists as big as the huge forearms), but it still looks good.

My favourites are Todd Lockwood followed by Eva Widermann.

I like the "technical" drawings of Arnie Swekel (the chapter intros in the PHB).

Concerning maps I like the work of Mike Schley.

Wayne England's work doesn't look appealing to me. People are drawn to broad and plump to please me. The proportions just don't look right.

It doesn't matter to me if some art piece is b/w (or sepia toned) or full colored as long as it's done well. Better a good piece of b/w art than an ugly colored one.

I really, really dig the Joystealer's illustration from MM4

One of my all time favourites as well. I plan to use it in one of my games in the near future too.

I love the PC Portraits section of the WotC art gallery. I print out the pics and paste them to index cards. Whenever the PCs are interacting with someone (even a 'minor' NPC like a shop merchant) I try to have an appropriate pic card handy. I write the name and location of the NPC on the card so the PCs can visit them again when in that location.

I'm not familiar with too many of these books, so I've had fun seeing lots of these images for the first time. My favourites of the moment (subject to change any day now) would be:

Greater Temple and Irae, by Rebecca Guay

and. . .

Psi_4.jpg

Psychic Warrior, by Sam Wood

No particular reason. They just appeal, right now.

Incidentally, I also like this kind of thread: the pretty kind! :)
