My list:

Alien
Excalibur
Star Wars IV V VI
Matrix Trilogy
The Lord of the Rings series
Conan the Barbarian
Akira
Rollerball (the original)

These lists always amuse me. I'll be reading along saying 'yes, yes, ok, yes' and then someone will list something I think was appallingly bad, and I wonder how we can agree on 8 out of 10 and be light-years apart on the other 2. :D

There have been lots of Sci-Fi and Fantasy TV Movies through the ages, from Star Wars to E.T., Logan's Run to 2001, ... Well, you get the picture ;)

What are your Top Ten Favorite Sci-Fi or Fantasy Movies ever?

Where's the love for Horror? You've got some Horror titles in your list (e.g., Creepshow, which I love--"It's Father's Day and I want my cake!"--see Ed Harris in a small part!; Nosferatu, etc.), but you neglect to mention the higher art form in your text. :p

Spider Baby - http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0058606/
Dawn of the Dead (1978) - http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0077402/
Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi (Spirited Away) - http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0245429/
Alien - http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0078748/
Plan 9 From Outer Space - http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0052077/
It's a Wonderful Life - http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0038650/
The Wizard of Oz - http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0032138/
Sin City - http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0401792/
Psycho - http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0054215/
Re-Animator - http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0089885/

I was hoping others would shy away from other genre movies in this. I"m surprised to see so much anime, cartoons and horror. They may have elements of scifi/fantasy but IMO are there own unqiue genre.

**shrug**

The dividing lines are reasonably thin - is Godillza a sci-fi film or a monster film? Alien is as much a monster/haunted house film as it is sci fi. And I must admit that by the time I had put up my answers I already saw the two Addams Family films on the master list -- certainly they are closer to horror, albeit campy, than to fantasy.

So I think people have come up with the best "interntal definitions" that they could and then went to town. ;)
