From the amount of good advice in this thread (and I must say, that the advice has been on the positive side in this thread, apart from a notable few posts), I daresay that I don't really need to put my 2 cents in.....
But I just can't resist.
Speaking from experience (yes, another person in the "been there, done that" camp), I can say one thing. Never be afraid to take the high road. It often involves self sacrifice. It often involves some level of awkwardness on your part (if you happen to be in Paul's position). But it always involves being able to look at yourself in the mirror when all is said and done.
