True, but that might be a bit harder to justify -- after all, if a player moves 90 feet in a round, it only takes a tiny gust at his back to make the effective wind speed going past him only 87 feet per round, which is less than the 10mph required to dismiss the cloud.

True - it would be better to be a wood elf or have the mobility feat or something as extra insurance. But usually players aren't looking to drop the bugs until after the fight, so there's no harm in just trying again in a different direction at that point.

My sorcerer got this staff and used it for the first time in a season 3 mod with madness. He ended up getting Hedonism for a few minutes time and he immediately stripped out of his robes, but he was in the insect cloud so no one knew it happened.... until the cloud ended. He was just in the process of pulling the robes back on when the insects went away and he had his back to everyone. He just brushed it off as trying to get rid of the insects. -nods-
