Iaros stands tall in face of the attacks against him, although the nearby zombie is already beginning to crumble, as is the one being targeted by Lily and Zhen.

Then the corpses retaliate. Zhen is able to step aside from his opponent's attacks, but both D'keth and K'atzn'ii are hit with powerful blows. The one engaging Lith swings at the mass of shadows, but doesn't connect with anything substantial

Iaros smiles at the group and explains,"Knowledge leads to power. I'm simply taking a shortcut." A bolt of unnatural red lightning lashes out at Raijin, wounding the sorcerer and binding him in place.

Risen 54 attacks Zhen and misses. Risen 66 shifts to I12 and attacks D'keth, hitting AC 23 for 10 damage. Risen 77 charges K'atzn'ii, hitting AC 20 for 10 damage. Risen 94 shifts to H9 and attacks Lith, but misses.

Raijin tries to move his legs unsuccessfully, his eyes begin to glow and lines of energy appear on his hands. Electricity crackles over his body and between his limbs. D'keth absorbs the blow with grim determination as he concentrates on the undead in front of him. With Raijen next to him, the swordmage focuses his energy on a ring of force the explodes out of his blade and into the enemy.

He then steps away from his foe, hoping it follows him to give Raijen some breathing room.

"Fun!" chimes Empathy happily, as she takes a cue from Raijin and decides to blast the same area with psychic energy, hoping to punish the risen and causing them to become confused and less sure of their orientation. Before she does, she glances at the Risen in front of Lily's spirit companion and suddenly it is moved bodily into the blast area.

Blah blah blah, in other words you're a jerk.

Lily raised the skull she used as a focus once more, anger flashing in her eyes. She whispered an invocation and the skull trembled in her grasp then two angry, ghostlike spirits burst from it howling and tearing through the air toward the zombies. Slamming into their targets they ripped and tore with spectral claws. The thing called Lith lurched forward hungrily, plunging into the melee, its inky mass changing form fluidly as tendrils and teeth menaced and distracted the enemies around it.

Spirit companions are complex critters, so this is to remind everyone, myself included, of the important points. The first three items are probably the most relevant to the other players.
  • Any of Lily's allies who start their turn adjacent to her spirit companion can shift 1 square as a free action, as the first action during their turn.
  • Any of Lily's allies adjacent to her spirit companion gain a +3 bonus to their damage rolls against bloodied enemies.
  • Lily's spirit companion occupies 1 square, Lily's allies may move through its space, but her enemies may not.
  • Lily's spirit companion may be targeted by melee and ranged attacks. If a single attack deals 11 or more damage to Lily's spirit companion it disappears and Lily takes 6 damage. Otherwise her spirit companion is unaffected by the attack.
  • Lily's spirit companion uses Lily's defenses.
  • Any enemy that leaves a square adjacent to Lily's spirit companion without shifting is subject its Spirit Fang attack. (This is an opportunity action and so may used once per turn, rather than once per round. Since there is no reason not to take this attack DM please feel free to roll them as necessary.)
  • Lily's spirit companion is unaffected by terrain and environmental phenomena.

K'atzn'ii groans in pain as the reanimated corpse attacks, but smiles as her brother moves behind the enemy, that Empathy just so brilliantly slid next to her. The emotions built up in her, the pain of betrayal, the flood of memories it brought back, her father's broken, bloodied face flew into her mind and in a shout of rage, pure, unadulterated energy exploded outwards, slamming into the undead. The gith took the opportunity to step away from the foes, noticing both Empathy and Raijin looking at her direction and arcane/psionic energies ready.

She quickly traces a sigil in the air and one of the undead feels drawn to her.

Iaros watches in stunned amazement as nearly every zombie collapses under a cavalcade of furious attacks. "No! This cannot be!" he screams as he rushes forward, raising the crystal high. The energies are released in a shockwave that pushes D'keth across the room, although he is not badly hurt.

Another tendril of lightning erupts from the crystal and arcs to the fallen corpse by the stairs. It stands, still showing wounds from its spectral assailants, and barrels towards Lily, who is able to avoid the clumsy creature.

The other zombie attempts to bludgeon K'atzn'ii, but it is unable to pierce her defenses.

Wow, that was a good turn. You guys killed every Risen but 94, whom you bloodied.

Iaros moves to K13 and attacks D'keth, Raijen, and Zhen. He only hits the D'keth with a 15 vs Will. D'keth takes 2 damage and is pushed to F10. As a minor he Reanimates Risen 54.

Risen 54 charges Lily and misses badly. Nice damage though.

Risen 94 attacks K'atzn'ii, to no avail.[/sblock]

Zhen decides it's time to take down Iaros himself, especially if he can keep reanimating these zombies. The half-orc slams his fist into Iaros' chest, knocking him back. Zhen then circles around and moves to the other side of Iaros, hoping an ally with help surround him.

"Let us slay the body of the hydra, instead of lopping off heads," he calls out to the others.
