"Yeah, the forensics are waiting for you guys, so you could look at the crimescene as it is. Have a look around, when you're done they'll take everything to the lab. I want fingerprints of evrything."

"Understood," Simon replied. He took several deep breathes, trying to calm a stomach that just wasn't interested in being calm.

Again he wondered if the scene played out before him was in accordance with what he had read about voodoo and possession in the library.

"Well, I think I'll get started," Jennifer says.

She retrieves the investigation kit from her car, and starts giving the crime scene a thorough inspection.

[ooc: search +6, investigate +9, will spend an action dice on the search roll but will take 10 on the investigate check.]

[ooc : sorry, didn't really get the first hint. You recognise this setting as somewhat similar to a honfour, the rum and the chickens being offerings to one of the loa, and the wooden statues with the nails in as what western media basterdisised to voodoo dolls. Some mojo went down here, and both Baron Samedi and Papa Ghede are supposed to have powers over dreams, being guardians of the crossroads between life and death, light and dark. The dreamworld is in that domain, sleeping being a state between living and dieing.]

You get some dirty looks from the forensics squad, and hear some muttering about her thinking we can't do our job properly, but you don't really care.

There is an intricate pattern painted in blood on the ground around the corpse, and on the compass points it looks as if something has been removed. When you scrape the ground with a little metal forceps you find some wax. Probablu candles that stood here. They are nowhere to be found. When you near the corpse and try to cross the pattern, you feel your amulet growing warm.

"Sorry guys, just checking some things for myself, I'll leave most of it for you, I promise," Jennifer says sweetly.

She hesitates when the amulet becomes warm, and takes a step back.

"Simon," she says, reaching into her coat for the amulet, "The amulet became warm when I tried to step over the pattern. What does that mean?"

Jennifer hopes Simon has the answer to that question, because right now she's more than a little worried.

Simon moved close to her to reduce the risk that others would over hear them. “I’m guessing that the amulet is reacting to the voodoo magic that still lingers in the area. It could mean that the amulet is usable as a focus or has some magic in its own right,” Simon theorized. “I haven’t had much success in determining anything about the amulet, though I’m hoping some on-line sources come through for me later. I wouldn’t take it off or show anyone the amulet – it’s probably protecting you – though that’s conjecture.”

“As for this, there was some serious mojo going on here. The rum and chickens are offerings, the wooden statues are voodoo dolls – or something similar, though who was behind it I really don’t know. It could be Baron Samedi or Papa Ghede. The stuff here could have made it possible for whoever did it to enter my dreams, set up sympathetic reactions between the victim and me, and cut me . . . through him.”

Jennifer nodded in comprehension.

"Makes sense," she replied, and stepped back towards the circle, "I'll just make a quick check, Forensics can have the rest."

Still standing further away than she was originally, Jennifer looks at the body briefly, but wraps up her search of the crime scene there, not wanting anything strange to happen.

"Well, what do you make of it" Lafayette asks. "This is the third killing of this kind that we know of, not including the dead guard at the museum. We still don't have a cause of death for that one, toxicology came negative, except for some cannabis, but he probably took that a few days ago. Now this. Well, I'm happy I can call the specialists on this one. Have fun."

Jennifer ran a hand through her hair. This was quite different from researching haunted places.

"Do we know who owns this warehouse? Or who its being leased to? I'm interested to know how these people got in," Jennifer states.
