[VERY OT--Computers] Fastest computer ever?

Number47

Remember, all the Mhz advances still hasn't gotten them up to Macintosh standards. It's not the clock rate on the chip that counts, it's the operations per second. This is why Macintosh can tout itself as a supercomputer, but Wintel cannot.

The thing is what are you measuring speed in? There are lots of different measurements, and also depends on the length of the clock cycles, how much actually happens in the execution of an instruction etc... Speed is relative to the processor. There is no standard benchmark program, because ever program can be optimised to a certain chip, and every type of chip will be better at different things.... *Sigh*

Pants! That means I actually paid attention in thouse Computer Systems Lectures.... hmmmm......
