D&D (2024) What genres are we missing?

So far we have:

* Fantasy kitchen sink(FR/Exandria)

* Dark fantasy/horror (Ravenloft)

* Pulp (Eberron)

* Epic/mythic fantasy (Theros)

* Swashbuckling/sword and planet (Spelljammer)

* Magic school (Strixhaven)

* Magicpunk (Ravnica)

* Heroic fantasy (Dragonlance)

* New weird/noir (Planescape)

So what are we missing?

The big one is sword & sorcery, which could be represented by Dark Sun or Greyhawk, or maaaybe Nentir Vale. Then there's political fantasy, which could be either Birthright or Eldraine (which also touches on Arthurian and fairy tale). Then wuxia (possibly MtG's Tarkir) and urban fantasy (the Urban Arcana setting from d20 Modern would work).

Can you think of anything else?

B/X Known World
Science fantasy, like they used to do in the old days.

Pike & shot fantasy, a more technologically advanced semi-historical setting.

Political fantasy, aka Game of Thrones.

Fairy tale in the sense of the original Grimms' Fairy Tales not the Disney versions. Dark and brooding. Mix Ravenloft and Witchlight and you're in the right neighborhood.

Actual horror. Ravenloft is...interesting...but it's as close to horror as Disney's Haunted Mansion is to horror.

I'd argue that true horror is outside the scope of D&D.

Eldraine gets political fantasy and fairy tales in one, which is why I suspect we might get it over Birthright.
