But then again I'm the type of person that has a hard time going into a game store and not coming out with another (unnecessary) set of dice. Good thing I rarely have the opportunity to go into good game stores.

Wizdice sells a really good bulk bag on amazon of different 7-die sets. i got one and they're pretty good for the price (more than 100 dice for 20$)

Red dice roll faster. But if you want more crits, you need bigger dice.

I have a few sets of Game Science dice, and I love them. The only thing better would be if someone were making casino quality machined gaming dice.

Most of mine are Chessex speckled dice. I also have a set of six of the Crystal Caste crystal d4s which I got at Gen Con (when it was still in Milwaukee). I don't like pyramid-shaped d4s.

I find that dice roll better when you DM, so you may want to consider that option.

I got the China Jade from Crystal Caste years ago. I still have em, and I love them!

With regards to Game Science dice:

1) Take your average run of the mill Chessex or Crystal Caste or Q Workshop dice. Do some sample rolling. Let me know how many thousands and thousands of rolls you need to make before the statistical difference between them and Game Science dice manifests. I'll wait. In the meantime, I'll keep using my Chessex, Crystal Caste and Q Workshop dice.

2) Actually, using "casino design" dice and casino dice science doesn't necessarily work well for gaming anyway. Game Science dice are notorious for stopping after very few rolls, which isn't good for their vaunted randomness. In order to get a roll that's truly random, you need to have a casino-style table and you need to throw the dice all the way across it to bounce off the back edge, again, casino style, so that the dice roll sufficiently. If you're not doing this, all the pretentious "science" of Game Science dice is a moot point anyway.

My issue with the pointed dice is that the corners will wear and break. My buddy has a bunch of old D&D dice that are basically unusable because they look like that ancient d20 someone dug up in the Middle East.
