you know i'm really surprised Elder Scrolls hasn't gone into tabletop rpgs. its kind of a no brainer from a business perspective. they could even launch simultaneously with some expansion for ESO.

Oh! That setting where the world is covered in clouds and humanity is forced to live in the mountains and there are airships! I just heard about it a day ago! Stormfront, I think it was called? It sounds cool.

its kind of a no brainer from a business perspective.

It may (only may) a no-brainer if some third party comes to them and says, "We want a license to make a tabletop rpg,". Otherwise, it is a no-brainer to *not* do it. The current tabletop RPG market is so small as compared to the videogame market, it simply isn't worth their time to bother, I expect.

But even for the licensed version - there'd need to be editorial oversight, and that takes time and effort and resources. So, not necessarily a no-brainer.
