D&D General Which "Elements" would you put in a Cosmology?

I would add wood like the symbol of the fith element, the life. Earth divided into crystal(mineral) and metal.

And the akasha realm, a "mirror world", a demiplane by the shards of the collective memory, showing how the past is remembered (but not how happened really). A nice place to be explored by chronomancers who don't want troubles about time paradoxes.

Why not just go with the Elemental Chaos?

I would also check out RuneQuest and just consider every rune type as an element.

I don't necessarily need separate elemental planes for what I'm working on, but having separate spell categories, separate energies to channel, and creatures embodying those seems like something that would be needed for some campaign types.

I hadn't checked out RuneQuest before. Thanks for the push! I like that some are like the physical classic elements (with other traits that go with them) and some are ideas front and center.
