what I've never understood is Insight under Intelligence and not Wisdom. Academic book-learning rarely helps with reading people. Move that to Wis and Medicine to Int. Done and Done

Investigation is not for talking to people. It's for messing around and reading. I use it to deduce how traps work and for specifically looking for traps that Passive Perception hasn't picked up.

Also research in a library.

That's not entirely accurate; the default in A5E is that any skill can be combined with any ability score. There are no default combinations.

Sure, some might happen to be more common than others, and some combos might be rare or not used at all, but the rules don't attach skills to ability scores.

Truth. Too many people equate providing examples with prescribing methods you can't deviate from.
