XP for Stupid Jokes

Has anyone else here ever awarded/been awarded XP for making stupid jokes? When I first joined a certain campaign, I entered into the party by being told to escort the existing PCs to the next town. My instructions were to send word back to Boggin (the first town) when I arrived. I asked the DM if the courier service had an employee named Word. So I could send Word back to Boggin. This led to a long string of bad puns, such as the following:
--If he fell down on a dusty road, he'd be a dirty Word.
--If he stole something, he'd be a bad Word.
Those are basically all I remember. But in the end, we were all rewarded 5 xp. Anybody else have a similar experience?

I have told players I would give out as much as 100xp for a good laugh. Though -to be fair- that's a "silly" T&T campaign where all the characters are goblins and they have to make me laugh through goblinlike RP, but hey; the point is to have a good time.

Just last week I had a player roll up a new character. Apparently he'd been thinking about it for a while, cause he pulled it off really well.

Anyway, midway through the game his character was talking to one of the characters and just refusing to understand him. About midway through this dialogue about
P1:"I think we're behind a bathtub."
P2:"A what?"
P1:"A bathtub."
P2"I don't understand you, what are we standing behind?"
P1"A bathtub."
P2"Excuse me, did you say we are behind a what bathtub?"
P1"Yeah, I said we were behind a bathtub"
P2"I do not understand this word bathtub..."
DM(Me): "Look Stinky, what Hegroe is trying to say here is..."

The player had written name with great gothic flourishes and only after I said it and basked in the glorious mocking laughter of my players did I realize to what extent I had been had. So of course he got the largest arbitrary XP award in the game to date.

When you can't beat em, Join em.

And wait till they're asleep...
