Cait has a number of options. Although the tent is directly in front of the gate to the fortress, he could try to go around to get into the fortress. No readily availible way to gain entrance to the rear part of the pavilion is apparent to Cait, but the Captain's mess has nothing to stop Cait from walking right in if he so desired.

Cait Sith will attempt to walk close to the officer’s tent in order to see what he can overhear. He first looks for an out of the way place to dump his laundry, as that might make a poor cover around officers, and then proceeds to try and blend in near the tent.

Cait dumps the clothing and begins to approach the tent. Cait can hear the faint sound of of Zheng (chinese zither) being played from inside the tent. There is about a ten foot area before the tent where no one is walking and only the guards are standing on duty. As Cait considers how to get close enough to the tent to hear better without being suspicious, his arm is grabbed by one of the captains at the longtable nearest him.

You! Our table is out of wine and we require more prawns. Attend to us quickly!
