"Well enough," says Gellan, returning Lord Ogglebottom's smile slightly. "Those who had taken the package were...'thugs' I think is the word. They were not planners. Their leader said that he did not know who had hired them to take the box, but also that the box was not the real prize."

Fixing a solemn gaze on Ogglebottom, Gellan continues, "Your son was to be the main target, to be held for a greater sum."

"I also taken that from those thugs. Maybe that could help you to identify the contractor." Gloom takes out the letter he took from H'raken and starts to read it aloud before handing it to his employeer.

Thorn will sit back in the over-stuffed chairs - leaving the talking to his much more skilled comrades.

Nervously, and only when it doesn't look like he'll disturb the conversation, will Thorn ask if Ogglebottom is serving cheese like he did when we first met him.

Following behind the rest of the party, Minharath enters the building last. Waiting until his companions have all had an opportunity to speak he steps forward, holding out the 'package'. He does not speak, keeping his opinions to himself.

As Gellan speaks Lord Ogglebottom nods his head in agreement as if expecting as much. At the revelation of the plan to kidnap his son, Lord Ogglebottom eyes widen slightly before a scowl appears across his face. It appears as if he is about to speak when Gloom cuts in..

Lord Ogglebottom reaches out and takes the letter from Gloom and looks it over, front and back and then hands it to Jyles. "Take this and have someone find out who wrote it." He turns back to the group. " I thank you very much for the work you have done for me this night. Even more I thank you for the plot you uncovered. I have many enemies both in Daunton and from afar but I am sure that the letter will provide information as to the author". After a moment of thought he looks back to the group "And the parcel.."?

Lord Ogglebottom takes the parcel from Minharath and hands it over to Jyles as well. With the parcel and letter in hand Jyles leaves in a hurry.

Jyles and Lord Ogglebottom both turn to regard Thorn and a smile stretches across Lord Ogglebottoms face. "Yes, yes indeed I shall get some refreshments for you all. Please have a seat and I'll have Jezabelle fetch you whatever you would like while I ensure the contents of the parcel are intact and retrieve your payment"

Hey guys sorry for the slow posting this week. I realized yesterday that if I hold off on handing out xp and final rewards till Monday the 28th that will put us at a full 6 months, which gives you guys more time xp and loot as well as for me a full 12 DM credits. So long story short, I will wait till Monday to hand out the final rewards and wrap up this adventure, at which point Lord Ogglebottoms Odd Tasks II will begin (possibly in a new thread) and we can continue. Of course if our fantastic Judge wants to be generous and gratis those 4 days I can wrap things up today and move things along....

Lord Ogglebottom leaves the room and moments later the scantily clad Jezabelle enters with a large tray loaded with a variety of cured meats, cheeses and fruits. She sets the tray down and then brings out a variety of beverages ranging from a simple pitcher of water to a fine bottle of wine and places out a variety of appropriate drinking glasses. "Enjoy" she purrs and turns and leaves.

All the while the large looming form of the warforged, Leonidas has stood silently still by the doorway you entered through.

Minutes pass and just about when you begin to worry that Lord Ogglebottom may trying to get out of paying you he returns. He is carrying 6 leather pouches and hands each of you one. By the weight of the bag and the jingle of the coins inside you can tell that there is a fair bit more than expected.

"As promised 100 gold coins for the safe return of my package" he says as he hands out the pouches. "You may note that there is a fair bit more as well in there" he continues. "Consider it a token of my appreciation for services rendered as well as a down payment for what I am going to ask you you next. You see, I had feared for some time that my adversaries may begin to come after me in ways other than the normal cut throat methods used in the mercantile community. Now that it is clear that one of these scoundrels came after my family I have little choice but to remove Leonard from danger." His look has turned very solemn and as he looks at you you can clearly see the worry on his face and he suddenly seems much older and tired.

"Since his mother died years ago I have tried to raise Leonard as well as I could, but being a successful merchant is not as safe and easy as you may think. My life similar to yours is fraught with danger and there is always someone looking to take what I have, either petty thieves stealing my possessions or jealous competitors who would see me loose everything so they can step into my place." He looks at each of you but focuses on Minharath the most.

"Since it is clear that someone now means my family harm I ask that you help me once more and escort Leonard out of Daunton to somewhere I know he will be safe. Will you help me?"

So when do I get my DM credits? I am working on my second character and I'm thinking of using those credits towards that character. That or I use them on Dextyr - I'm not sure yet. Just wondering. Also when using DM credits to raise a level does the character get any gold pieces to buy items with or does he just gain the level but not the wealth that he would have by adventuring?

re: DM credits. They each represent 1 month of time xp/time gold so for each one you cash in you get that amount of time xp/time gold depending on the level of the PC you're bumping up. i.e. if Dextyr was to cash in right now he'd get 145 xp and 175 gp for each one you cash in[/sblock]
