Things to note:
-"casting" is vastly different from "forging"
- ~4:45 'can this substance still be considered obsidian?'
Of course, no reason to worry that earth obsidian, or chemistry etc, is the same as it is on Athas

TLDR: Yes, but it's totally not a useful product.
The vid is amusing.
Glass can be cast, including obsidian, but it's tricky, needs special tools and methods, and the guy in the video shows that (1) you can cast it, even if marginally skilled, (2) without special tools, you are highly likely to fail, (3) even with the tools, obsidian's impurities make it a total crapshoot, and (4) he's not skilled at all in casting glass, and so probably isn't the right guy for the job.
Still, he's knowledgable enough to be interesting, and admits his own ignorance... and he gets help. Secure enough in his person to admit he needs help. And to show that, even with the help, he fails.
