Folks,

Assuming I can get enough players, in honor of the recent passing of Gary Gygax, on Saturday, I am planning on running an old-skool D&D game using nothing more than the 1981 Basic D&D game rules and the Keep on the Borderlands adventure. These are the very first D&D books I ever owned and I think it would be a blast to play these again, even if it were just for one session.

Return with me to a time when the game was simultaneously simpler and yet more complicated. When Elf and Dwarf were classes and saving throws included those against "Death Magic." When a 64-page rulebook contained all of the rules for players and DMs -- including treasure, spells AND monsters.

And yes, I may even have to come up with some dice we will need to color in with a crayon (but that we will all have to share at the table, since nobody was selling custom dice back in those days.)

It is a pure nostalgia trip, but just thinking about it is putting a smile on my face.

I think we've settled on my place this Saturday. I'm free any time after noon.

Let us know if you plan on coming and we'll see to it that you get rules and directions etc.

New poster here and I live in Columbus, or Armstrongburgh as I like to think of it. 'Course it's just because it makes me laugh.

Is this game still going? I don't have these rules anymore, my wife having just sold them on e-bay but I might be interested in this type of gaming, or something similar.

Well, we've only played that once and it was pretty fun. I'd never played with those rules before. It was really...different.

Some of us still play d20 games on a rather infrequent basis.

Apewty

We have been thinking of starting a new campaign with some new players. Inzeladun Master and I will talk and let you know, for sure, about what we might do...

Sounds interesting then. Sounds like you all are gamers through and through. My problem is that I switched to computer games ages ago so I am out of the loop, but lately I've thought that I'm missing the old days of pen and paper gaming.

Anyway, let me know what you need to know from/about me and we'll see how it works out. Thanks!
