OotS 611 is up!

I've been thinking for a while that Mr Scruffy is Belkar's animal companion!

As for Durkon, if he is returned posthumously, then the prophesy of death, etc accompanying him back might simply mean his own body (dead) returning. Or it could mean that the return of his dead body might cause an investigation into what lead him to leave - perhaps leading to civil war. At the unlikely extreme, perhaps he will die, be raised as an undead by that Loki priestess, and then lead enemy forces to attack and destroy his Thor worshiping clan. Granted, that is a bit of an extreme! :D:devil:

It could be that Roy will return soon. The cleric can cast resurrection from a scroll, and perhaps a toe bone is in Roy's boot (that Belkar was wearing when they escaped from the golem maker in comic 578). And luckily, his green hilt sword is right there as well - once the guild leader is slain, anyway. That will lead to a nice four member team (Roy, Haley, Celia, Belkar) that might soon manage contact with Durkon (due to the recent sending), which could lead to an eventual reunion with Durkon and Elan, in effect recreating the initial team with Celia taking the place of V - who I think is on the path towards becoming a lich himself (a sort of fight fire with fire scenario).

GO BELKAR GO! Never thought I'd be cheering for the little psychopath so much...

Anybody have a guess for the XXX potion he just chugged?

"Draw his last breath ever" is a line that is just begging for a prophecy-ish dubious workaround.

If Rich hadn't meant for it to have one, the prophecy would have been something like "Will die, permanently, forever, no dubious workaround or twist in which he comes back ever" or something like that, to make fun of the prophecy-workaround cliche in general... that's more Rich's style, I would think. So I'm pretty sure Belkar will be around in some form til the end.

You know, at times like this I'm curious about how exactly Belkar pulls this sort of thing off. I know, I know; the stats don't matter. But still. We know his wisdom, intelligence, and charisma are pretty awful (well, I'm not positive about int, but come on.) So his Strength and Constitution are probably ridiculous. And he's a barbarian now, so he could be in a rage for most or all of that fight. I suspect he also picked human as his favored enemy, which helps.
