What's new with the GSL?

darjr is correct, as per Scott Rouse. It's at the middle or bottom of a huge amount of work that he has ahead, according to his last statements.... And he's the ONLY one who's working on it at the company. So meantime, the existing GSL licensed is in force.

Last I knew it wasn't with the lawyers but was held up by the SRD.

If you want to be more recent then these are the posts here and here

Today I spent the first quality time with this in a while and got through the rest of the PHB, DMG and up to Ooze in the MM. I hope to be done with my review of comparing the GSL SRD to the OGL SRD tomorrow. I have some additions to the SRD I will recomend based on my work. Then the additions will need to be udpated into the SRD. While this is happening I'll finish the FAQ.

My goal is to have this posted before I go on Christmas break on the 19th.

What other work does Scott have exactly? Not being snippy, but I'm curious what other work he has aside from the GSL.

stuff like this

Character Builder open beta go/no go (it's a go)
2008 performance reviews for my team
2008 year end accounting (making sure A&P is reconciled)
.... Trademark purchase
2009 Core Hobby Distributor Conference presentation
Global licensing summit action items: including working with cross functional team on solution for simultaneous release of English and Local Language products
2009 marketing planning
2009 Organized play programs
2010 product planning
Solving the global economic crisis
Answering threads like this from work and/or home
Creating the new rick-roll

Well, speaking as someone who helped create the GSL firestorm a few months ago, I can honestly say that this is welcome news.

The item on your list of which you should be most be proud is the new Rick-roll Scott; it is an absolute classic!

I can answer your last two questions.

What's on the 4e horizon for third party publishers?

Quite a bit; speaking for Goodman Games and Blackdirge Publishing. We're averaging between 4 and 6 new 4E releases a month in both print and PDF. There's a whole list of upcoming 4E releases from Goodman/Blackdirge right here: Upcoming 4E Releases

Why am I seeing third party PDF stuff for 4e but nothing at the game store?

Most of the Goodman 4E material is available in print at gaming stores across the country.
