On the official boards, when one of the DDI devs (I want to say Didier Monin, but may be wrong) mentioned wanting to make a tool that would let you build a dungeon, place the encounters (and automagically pull the stat blocks from the compendium), there was almost a unanimous cry of "ME WANT PLEEZE!!"

I mean, imagine this. You have a suite of tools that let you build a dungeon, populate it with monsters (that link to the appropriate stat blocks), and save it as a folder that you can then share with people that all is uploadable into the Game Table.

ME WANT PLEEZE!!

More than that, I want the option to distribute said dungeon under the terms of the GSL. It could change the 3rd party published adventure market forever.

Was I the only one who found the version list a bit off?

First Edition (1974)
Second Edition (1989)
Third Edition (2000)
Fourth Edition (2007)

I guess WotC is categorizing everything prior to 2e AD&D as "First Edition."

I think they are going with Hardback book editions of the game. First is when the game really took off on its own. The wide spread press of books tends to sell better than box sets. Had basic been sold in Hardback as it later was in the Rules Compendium format it would have done way better than it did IMO.

I haven't taken the latest survey, but have taken at least four of them in the past.

Yeah, I was kind of surprised that they differentiated anything before 3rd at all, as I cannot imagine that pre 3rd edition only players are the target audience.

I completed the survey and tried to be constructive. I was honestly surprised with the frankness of questions - that's a good sign for the fandom.

I am not. Based on what I have read (not experienced, I never played anything prior to 3.5), 4E brings back the "feel" (for some quantity of feel) as editions prior to 3/3.5.

I took teh survey and was happy to offer my thoughts. I am impressed that they are taking the time to do this and it shows a concerted effort to shake the old negative impressions people have about WOTC and their digital offerings.

Nice move, WOTC. Keep it up! But, keep in mind that all this could backlash in a huge way if you don't act on the survey results and, just as important, keep us abreast of your thinking, your decisions and your progress.

Haven't seen the question, but it always pays to get information - whoever they may have targeted, they want to know who they have actually reached.
