It's a stereotype of gamers -- playing in their parent's basement. I've known of this stereotype pretty much all my gaming life, yet, perhaps ironically, I've never played a game in any basement. In fact, I'd only even been in a basement once before the age of 35. After the age of 35, I've only been in basements when house shopping.

In my part of the world (U.S. Southeast plains/coast), basements are very rare.

Have you gamed in a basement? Are they common in your part of the world?

When I was in high school, three members of our group had finished (or semi-finished) basements. That's where you shove a half-dozen or more noisy teenagers :)

In summer and good weather, we tended to play outside (picnic tables and patios). When weather wasn't good, maybe half our games were in a basement.

From college on, almost never in a basement.

I have never played in a basement, but basemenst are very common here is Michigan. Right now all of my gaming stuff is stored in the office in the basement. My son and I have played a few board games down there, but as I think about it my son and I have played a few D&D sessions in the basement. So I guess my 8 yo has played a few times in his parents basement. :)

We used to but rarely anymore. THe only time I've gamed in a basement in the past decade has been at the Bookery store for the Ohio Gamedays.

In college we played in a "finished" basement in one game. It was by choice as the upstairs of that house smelled of stale beer and vomit most Sundays
