2/7 DDI Update

THis was not listed in the bugs they fixed but they did fix it for my fighter.

"Features that let you replace one element with another, such as retraining and multiclass power swap feats, do not work correctly in some cases."

So. Damn. Happy.

Would you prefer they ignore those things in favor of adding to the pile of things that need to be supported by the CB?

Because it sounds like you're complaining about WotC actually addressing issues and complaints that many people had with the online CB. They left that stuff out, and people rightfully criticized them for it. Now they've put that stuff back in, and people are still criticizing them for it.

I don't get it.

*shrug*
Can't speak for Quickleaf , but I would have preferred they released a CB that had, at a bare minimum, the functionality of the old CB. I'm happy they're making progress, I'm happy they're addressing important issues, but I do think there's still criticism warranted.

Exactly.

While every step towards equalling the quality of what we had a year ago is a good step, WotC chose the path they are walking when they decided to take the most popular parts of a subscription service that a lot of us are already paying for and replace them with unfinished tools. There should not be months and months of beta testing to get back to where we were when I subscribed, but here we are after.... how many months?... of waiting for a decent CB with Essentials and DarkSun etc, and we still don't have it.

Bad customer service is always a good reason to criticize a company if you are giving them your money. Sadly, my DDI sub expires in about a week and I still don't see any sign of a Character Builder that makes building characters fun and easy or a Monster Builder that lets you, you know, actually build monsters.

I understand the urge to defend the flag-bearer of the hobby- I have long teetered on the edge of being a 4e booster- but charging their subscribing customers the same money for less and less month after month has left me with a very bitter taste in my metaphorical mouth.

Wahoo! Multiclass Power Swap feats are working!

I think you're misunderstanding my criticism of Quickleaf's comment. I get the unhappiness with the current CB. I can easily wrap my mind around how someone would feel cheated or ripped off with their DDI subscription.

I just don't think it's fair to holler and yell about not having feature X, and then to snarkily jab at them when "all they do" is implement feature X in an update.

You wanted it, you got it.

Now, if someone wanted to make the argument that it shouldn't have taken this long to have a feature we had in the original CB, that's fair game IMO. But to gripe about receiving a feature you feel entitled to having and not much else? Just doesn't seem kosher in my book.

A fair point. However, it certainly shouldn't be a shock that a lot of folks will complain about every update until the new CB is as smooth and sexy as the old. That's the risk that WotC took when they saw how great the CB was running and how much good will and faith it was generating towards their digital offerings- and threw it all away.

Not saying it's right; just saying it's going to happen.

Haven't tried this *fabulous* online tool for some time now, but two players are trying it.

Tried yesterday and still won't work on my Chrome (Win 7 64, BR).

There is something to be said for complaining; if you don't, they'll think you're a satisfied customer and become complacent.

Right now, they have very few reasons for complacency, and we have very few reasons not to complain. Quality of articles and the program has been improving, but the builder still doesn't do what the old one did, and the quantity of material we're getting for our dough just keeps getting less, and less, and less. THAT is the part I find unacceptable.

Sure, I get that there's rules bloat, and I want that dealt with, but if you're going to trim back the new offerings, the ones we DO see had better be DAMNED GOOD. Frankly, we're just not seeing that.

I liked the Eladrin Knight article. It was almost good enough. That is the calibre of things we should expect from a crunch article, but maybe less restricted next time (should have kept the original 'trained in Arcana' requirement), but that's another matter entirely.

OMV! (Vecna, in case you were wondering) They fixed my single biggest remaining complaint -- the cards on the Character Sheet are no longer a chaotic mess, but (generally) go at-will, encounter, daily, items.

Before they fixed it, my solution was to print to PDF, screen capture each card separately, paste the cards into cells in a spreadsheet in the order I wanted them, screen capture the sheet, and then print the capture. That's a lot of work I can skip now.

Yay, WotC team!
