Loved those books as a kid...first exposure to comics that were not simply about super heroes. Planning on taking the kids to see this...hopefully it will live up to the director/cast.

The Unicorn? Are they setting this up to have a sequel or will it combine both stories into one?

Edit: interesting. Looking at the Wikipedia entry it says the movie combines The Crab with the Golden Claws, The Secret of the Unicorn and Red Rackham's Treasure into one. I'm having a hard time seeing how they could fit everything.

I did notice they showed the faces very little in the trailer. Intentional?

Quite likely. It's only at the very end that you really see a couple of clear faces and they were way creepy. Maybe they're still rendering new face graphics before the release.

We can only pray, the sanity of future generations may well rely on it. So many children locked away, endlessly crying from their exposure to The Polar Express.

Hopefully Hollywood wises up and quits trying to make photorealistic CG. Our visual defenses against metamorphic horrors are there for a reason and there is no good reason to try and bypass them.

A movie that intentionally exploits the creepiness of the uncanny valley might be interesting. Heck, the valley itself could be the premise behind some sort of "us vs them" thriller/horror. Hollywood would likely botch it, but someone somewhere might be able to pull it off.

Also: That freaky elf kid in the still there? Yeah, I'm pretty his night job is to switch the light in my fridge on and off. No midnight snacks for me.
