The more detailed Forbe's article makes it sound like a PDF release of the actual content (not the premium presentation) may end up available.

If anything given the current adventures in Dungeon where previous exclusive adventures are being released maybe this exclusive content will see general usage in say October, November, December, January. Just speculation because I would like to run the content but don't need the "cherished possession" aspect.

Is anyone else having a very hard time placing an order? I'm in IE9, and it keeps having some sort of error when I try to input my address for pre-order.

I hope they make this available for those who despite it all have stuck to the DDI, or at the very least, offer the PDF for sale.

A couple days ago, I noticed WotC won't have a booth in the exhibitor's hall. I thought that was... weird, to say the least.

I mean, even if they're not selling any D&D products (and they have all those reprints they could be selling that are perfect for the GenCon crowd)... why aren't they at least selling Magic cards or setting up a display?

The idea that they're actually selling something and, because they have no booth, will be having another company distribute it completely baffles me.

Cheers!

I like the cover art, it really does seems different both from 3e and 4e.

Shame it's a Gen Con exclusive, sadly I found out that a plan ticket will cost me the same as four months of rent so I won't be able to get to gen con this year :.-(.

I don't much care for the exclusivity thing either. Can't make GenCon this year, so I'm hoping that it will eventually be available in PDF for the unwashed masses.

I'm not too terribly impressed with the whole "most up-to-date D&D Next rules" thing. Either this means up-to-date-now-but-out-of-date-by-the-time-it-gets-in-your-hands, or that there will be a moratorium on new playtest material from when they start printing (soonish I'd imagine) until GenCon. Closing in on the supposed one-year-out mark, it seems like we need more packets pushed, not less, but that's just my opinion.

I dig the art. It looks very heroic, but still leaves room for me to make snarky comments and/or voiceovers (to myself) about the depicted individuals. That's just my metric for what makes good D&D art.
