Bitten on legs and arms? Here's an alternative explanation.
Woman is out walking her dog. Dog barks, perhaps even lunges at a bunch of cats, gets into altercation. Woman, being not so bright, steps up and reaches in, trying to get cats off her dog, gets scratched and bitten on the parts most available to the cats - arms and legs - possible falling down in the middle of the ruckus. In the aftermath, she rewrites the story a bit, so that the cats attacked her.
Because, unless they're rabid, no, standard cats don't gang up on humans.
Yeah, that makes more sense than the original.
Cats only attack when they can't run away or they are defending kittens.
