It reminds me of some old school Conan sword and sorcery. Exotic landscapes, bad ass warriors. I REALLY like this piece of art.

Unless dark elves have goatees and dreadlocks, I think we can safely rule out Drizzt.

If anyone has any idea who the artist is lemme know and I'll update the first post with that that information. Kudos to whoever it is. Very nice piece.

Actually, their gender isn't clear to me.

I also like this piece, both because it evokes Swords & Sorcery as well as Al-Qadim! I also like the co position of what I'm calling a "watercolor burst".

Oh, and to quote Will Ferrill in Anchorman 2: BLAAACK! A good thing IMO, nice to see WotC embracing non-white fantasy heroes in vanilla D&D art right out of the gate.
