D&D 5E Best 1 shot adventure (low level)

Hey everyone,

I'm going to run a one shot game this weekend for a bunch of 2nd level characters to try and convince some hold outs that 5th Edition should be our DnD system moving forward.

Anyone know or have opinions on what the best 1 shot adventure is in 5th Ed?

Thanks!

Lost Mine of Phandelver (Beginner Box) is easy enough to break up into short sessions.
Death House is a good one shot you can get for free in an earlier issue of Dragon+.

I would 2nd the starter set LMoP. You can take the part dealing with the Redbrands in town, or Cragmaw Castle, but that may be more 3rd level. Modify the intro so that the PCs are in town visiting contacts already for the Redbrands part.

You can also get some off of DMsGuild. There are many cheap, or pay what you want that can be used.

D&D 'EXpeditions' has a lot of one-shots.

Holding out for what?

PF? DEX12 Sokol Keep might hold their attention, and would be somewhat challenging at 2nd.

4e? DEX11 Defiance in Phlan's pacing might suit them.

LMoP can appeal to AD&D fans, IMHO, and the Death House to anyone who was a fan of Ravenloft.

What is it your group likes about their current system?

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

The group I play with is with mostly 30 and 40 somethings and we own the entire 3rd Edition (and most of the second edition) game line between us. It's more of a situation where they don't want to spend the money to buy new books when they already have invested so much into the older editions.

5e's not turning out must-have game-changing books every month - nor even year. You can buy the core 5e books - that could be as much as $150 - and that's it, you won't be missing much if you never buy another.

Keep in mind that both group of DnD noobs I ran Deathhouse for it was 2 8-hours sessions.

They have a fair bit of terrain before they get to the house itself, and the house is drenched in things to explore.

I ran it in one 4-hour session.

But the PCs had guns.
