D&D 5E New D&D Survey

Only getting to say what my favorite classes were without getting to qualify if they were my favorite mechanically of thematically was difficult.

Since it did not seem to be asking for favorite classes specific to 5E, but rather over your history of playing D&D, that is how I answered it and checked ranger, rogue and sorcerer.

My comment was that I'd like to see a video game that was turn based, instead of all this action RPG stuff they insist on going with. By making it an action RPG, it takes away the feel of D&D completely. If you can't replicate most of class abilities and spells that appear in the PHB but have to make up completely new ones because it's an action rpg, then you might want to address your approach.

OK, now there just has to be a song in there somewhere about the Samurai Kender...where's Dannyalcatraz when you need him? :)

Samurai Kender, deadly half-pint:
There was a Samurai Kender in the heart of a dungeon,
Drafted from a dojo, brought to a dungeon,
Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival.

I mean it, when I analyze the stench -
To me it makes a lot of sense:
How the deadly half-pint was the Samurai Kender,
And he was drafted from a dojo, brought to a dungeon,
Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival.

Said he was a Samurai Kender, deadly half-pint -
Samurai Kender in the heart of a dungeon.

If you know your history,
Then you would know where you coming from,
Then you wouldn't have to ask me,
Who the 'eck do I think I am.

I'm just a Samurai Kender in the heart of a dungeon,
drafted from a dojo, brought to a dungeon,
Said he was fighting on arrival, fighting for survival;
Said he was a Samurai Kender slayed his foes a dungeon.

Slashing, woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,
Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy!
Woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,
Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy!
Samurai Kender sloggin' through the blood, wo-ho-ooh!
Said he wanna ran, then you wanna hand,
sloggin' through the blood, yea-hea, yea-ea.

Said he was a Samurai Kender in the heart of a dungeon;
Samurai Kender, deadly half-pint,
Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival;
Drafted from a dojo, brought to the heart of a dungeon,

Slashing, woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,
Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy!
Woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,
Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy!

Sloggin' through the blood in the heart of a dungeon;
Troddin' through the danger, a Samurai Kender -
Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival:
Samurai Kender, deadly half-pint,

Woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,
Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy!
Woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,
Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy! [fadeout]

Overall, I think this is a great survey.

My biggest concern about it is the lack of explicit mention of BECMI on the question about editions. I think they are probably considering it as part of the first option, but most of us who have played it probably won't consider and mark it that way (I know I didn't), so they aren't likely to get good numbers on it.

It's also interesting that they only cared about Enhanced Edition for Icewind Dale and Planescape: Torment, when any edition works for Baldur's Gate 1 & 2.

I'm old-fashioned and like paper-and-pencil-on tabletop over digital gaming.

I like Dark Sun more than I like the other options (but I've never seen Spelljammer or Planescape).

A set of (customizable?) character minis would tempt my wallet to open.
Updating more classic modules with 5e conversions - in hardcopy form - would also tempt my wallet to open.
