Crowdfunded RPG pdfs/books, is there enough interest?

Hey all,

yes its me, the complete stranger. Hope you have all been keeping well? :D

Someone on my (Eternity Publishing) website recently inquired about the 4E Vampire Bestiary Volume 2: Temple of Death that I never got around to releasing (for a bunch of reasons).

I mentioned to them I was currently making a comic book (the crowdfund of that is likely Spring next year) but it got me thinking that I could do a crowdfund for a pdf and/or Print version of the VB Volume 2 if I thought enough people were interested?

By 'enough' I mean 25-50 backers, the target would be to recoup the original cost of the art and pay print costs for anyone looking a (signed) printed copy.

One idea occurred to me that I could have a tier/perk for suggested new monsters (including* 4E updates of my Immortals Handbook Epic Bestiary monsters...with totally new art in the Vampire Bestiary style).

*but not limited to

Just curious if there was any interest out there?

If it was hypothetically successful, it might ultimately be worth my while revisiting some of the previously touted ideas including even the 3E stuff.

Anyway let me know what you guys think?

I'm on board for whatever you want to publish as long as it has something to do with high-level D&D or PF. Don't get me wrong, the basic idea of the first Vampire Bestiary as a groundwork for what was supposed to come later is a good one, but if you are really only releasing such a limited amount of material, I strongly vote for high/epic level stuff.

That's what you are known for, what you are really good at, and what is pretty much lacking from the big publishers. If this would be 3.5th, 4th, 5th or PF I don't ally care, as long as it's not levels 1-12 or so.

Heck, I would gladly pay for a Patreon and a weekly/monthly monster/artifact/adventure idea.

Anyway, great to hear from you again, UK!

Hey amigo! :)

mkay
I do 3.5 e but ok

Well, as much as I love all you guys I wouldn't want anyone buying something 4E if they wouldn't use it just because I was writing. I honestly appreciate the support though. I know most of the guys here use 3.5E.

I wonder if maybe a re-released and updated 3E Epic Bestiary might be more appropriate.

- All new Art (probably full colour) including a new cover
- Tiers/Perks for requesting New Monsters for 3.5E in an appendix (I'd probably have to limit this).

I know you guys would love a Volume 2 for the Epic Bestiary but I suspect at this juncture its beyond me.

Understandable Rhuarc matey! :)

I wouldn't want anyone to buy anything they wouldn't use (or be interested in using).

No one done Epic Rules for 5E yet? (I haven't been keeping track)

I'm not comfortable with that approach although maybe as a tier/perk for new monsters/items in an Appendix in an updated Epic Bestiary could work.

I'm always here or hereabouts amigo. Busy with the new comic book - was thinking crowdfund but might go with Image Comics - I dunno, decisions decisions. ;)

It's been a while, U_K.

The Vampire Bestiary 2 would be nice to see, but as Rhuarc says, your limited releases means that it would be a better idea to focus on your strong suit - Epic/Immortals material. While I do play 5E now, I'm also fine with 3.5E/4E content.

I'm interested in both these suggestions. I'd like to see some of the monsters you'd teased earlier, but didn't really expand upon, like the Punishment Angels.

Hey Rhuarc amigo! :)

Epic Rules? Yes, though not comparable to the depth of your system. Epic Adversaries? Still extremely limited. Immortal Rules? Pff, I wish.

Not sure 5E is really set up for it as much as previous editions, but I'll maybe have a glance and see what's been done.
