I've been rereading them lately.

If you used variant S&PRanger with critical hit tables from C&T with low miles magic rules from one of the historical books well you have Game of Thrones.

Or the design your own class rules. I assume such a priest would level up very fast due to being terrible.

Spheres. All, Fire, Divination.
HD 1d4 or d6
THACO as wizard or maybe cleric.
Something like that. Wizards ritual casters with a single school, nothing over 5th level works although you get the spellslots.

Games called at level 10.

The thought of Thac0 alone pretty much ensures I'll never play 2E again because I dont remember how attack anything.

I don't use it when I play 2E. It would still work in terms of designing your own class. I've converted it to BAB.

Ability checks are d20 add your ability score vs DC20.

Im intrigued that you still play 2E. I joined a group with an old friend I used to play with a few years back and they were playing 3.5. After playing 5E it took me all day to make a PC itd been so long. I couldnt imagine trying to make 2E PC after 20 some years, pretty sure my secondary skill would be: no skill of measurable worth.

I think it would be faster than you recall!

The concept I had been prepping for my next 2E game (20 years ago, lol) was everyone playing Spells and Magic clerics. I thought (and still think) it was the most balanced class they put out with point buy.

We didn’t use them much, but what we used from them we used a lot.

Not to mention that it gave our characters the ultimate cheating power-gamer munchkin tool of all: customization!

It allowed me to make a thief without find/remove trap. Devilry!

The channeling magic rules were some of the best rules out there for A magic with limitations game. Absolutely loved those rules. All based around magic causing fatigue. I’m the only one in my group that loved it though. Why take on a weakness if you don’t have too.
