The Batman Trailer

Survived the great depression
Technology has improved since then: television, home video, streaming.
The main thing I enjoy about going to the movies is the social aspect of watching with a packed house, all watching an "event" movie.
I'm living under the assumption that it won't be safe to gather in large crowds for years.
Even my modest home theatre setup has better picture and sound quality than the cinema. Additionally, it's cheaper, more convenient, I have control of when to start it or take a break, I can watch with my dogs, I can eat a meal, and I can drink a beer.

The first thing that came to mind when I saw the picture of Bruce in makeup yesterday was that there is a serious The Crow vibe going on here. Will be interesting to see if more parallels besides the look and the title play out here.

Based on reactions in my household, a lot of women will go see this movie. :)

I'm thrown by the monochromatic Joker-looking guys. Are they some group from whom the Joker arises? Are they drawing loosely in the events/effects of the Joker movie? Interesting

Batman punches one guy about a dozen times, way past when the guy stopped resisting. I assume that's an aberration.

Pattinson is going to be really interesting in this. Steven Wright should make a really good Gordon.

I got the feeling early on in the trailer that there was a real, actual mystery to solve in the story, which would be nice.

Batman year 2. He’s been around a year, but he’s viewed as a myth to many.

It’s been described as a gritty detective story. That trailer gives me vibes of Seven and other serial killer movies. But with Batman!

It's neat they're exploring a detective story—Batman as the World's Greatest Detective is so often overlooked in the movies. Should be a pretty different feel from the Nolan movies, which were great, with this cast!

Though any Batman movie will forever play second fiddle to Mask of the Phantasm for me I'm looking forward to this.

Not really feeling it. Nice story set up, but uber-emo haircut and suit Bruce is shades of disco Tobey Spidey. They set the possibility Barbara could be Catwoman in this universe, which would be interesting, but I hate the new Batmobile. The mysterious premise seems to be countered by a fair amount of cheesey visuals.

2021 may be the movie playoffs like the fall is shaping up to be in the states with all the pro teams having playoff going into the Fall and Winter.

Although I heard that they are remaking Planes, Trains, and Automobiles- no original ideas.

Survived the great depression.

I suspect the billion dollar movie days are over for a bit.

They'll just have to make cheaper movies. Local productions in various countries can still be done.

They might have to go to streaming as well which gets back to make cheaper movies.

Which could be a good thing. I myself am a bit burned out on all the big spectacle blockbusters a la Avengers etc. Cheaper does not necessarily mean bad - and there are a couple Direct-to-DVD or Direct-to-Streaming releases that are pretty decent. It could even force filmmakers to gasp get creative once more.
There is too much money to be made in film, especially when people are desperately looking for escapism. The industry will survive.

A pet peeve is when people say that. Then when it comes to the Oscars they say "I've never seen any of these films." Tons of original films are made every year.
