D&D 5E Ellywick Tumblestrum's Ballads of the Forgotten Realms (hypothetical FR Setting Book)

No offense, but that doesn't sound like a nation worth creating (for 3E?) or detailing for 5E. Fold that into another nation at most.

The notion that every concept that's ever flown out of Greenwood's fingertips needs to be memorialized and carried forward into every edition of the game isn't a great one. At some point, the setting gets painted into a corner, which I suspect is partly why WotC had the weird 4E panic attack about the setting that it did.

Better to either detail the areas that have the most value in them or push out beyond the horizon to new areas that have never been created.

Durpur is the only human nation of East Indian inspiration left in Faerun, are you going to fold in into the Beastlands? I'm sure erasing Faerun's should only human East Indian inspired nation still surviving will be extremely popular with EI D&D players/s

Besides I'm pretty sure Ajit is writing for Durpar, he said he was writing a South Asian inspired region for WotC for a book releasing in 2022, unless it's the Koung Kingdom in Kara Tur that means Durpar.

First, why does the wiki not mention anything about East Indian culture?

But you're right, an East Indian setting does sound good (assuming it's not a bunch of rando white dudes in Wisconsin writing it up, based on Bollywood action films they watch on Netflix). So zoom in on that and give us Forgotten Realms content that's all about East Indian myth and legend and fantasy adventures.

And don't make it with the assumption that the player characters will be white-coded folks from the Sword Coast barging in there. Make it from the point of view of the locals. (An approach that would have made Maztica significantly less awful, for instance.)

I'm pretty sure Ajit (who is East Indian and did an Amazing job with the the EI Domains in VRGtR, seriously a highlight of the book for me) is doing that part of FR.

Durpar is alot more interesting then the wiki page let's on. The Durpari are very interesting history and very interesting religious beliefs. Adama

I'm certain the update is being handled by Ajit who mentioned working on something South Asian/East Indian for WotC to be released in 2022. His work in the VRGtR was superb.
I think Durpar would be fleshed out (its a little thin for now) in a Shining South sourcebook, along with Halruua, the Shaar (desolation?) and maybe a better Dembrath + new Drows. Along with a detailed nation of Haflings.

I know I'd buy that, at least.

This isn't the 2e or 3e Era, I think each Shining South nation will get a 2 to 4 page section at best in a FR Campaign Setting book.

A focused Shining South book does sound good. I've always wanted Halruua to get more detail, after Greenwood did such a good job with Mystara's Five Shires.

There's literally no indication on that wiki page that you linked that conveys that it's an East Indian setting. I have no intention of erasing anything. Either pick better links or turn that irritation at the wiki folks. (Or, since it's a wiki, improve that deeply useless page.)

Anyways it's interesting to note that Durpari are very tolerant unlike alot of other cultures they don't seem to judge the "Monsterous" races, instead judging an individual by their deeds, as dictated by the laws of the Adama.

See, I'm not sure. The Sword Coast was enough (a little thin, though) so I think a larger region like the South would be just enough for a sourcebook. I fear a Faerun sourcebook would skip over such things like Durpar, Dembrath, Sossal etc leaving them in their actual state of ''barely existing''.

Ajit said he is working on so.ething coming out next year, but he gave zero indication that it is necessarily Indian or Asian: I think he'd be a great contributor to either Planescapr and/or Dark Sun.
