D&D General DALL·E 3 does amazing D&D art

medieval forest scene. deer lies at the water's edge. Further south stands a small pavilion. The pavilion sits at the edge of the lake, small and slightly raised on stilts. It does not appear to have been lived in for some time. The wood is old, and a few cobwebs hang across the windows. Curtains keep out the sun and block the view inside. The door is tightly closed.

It sure missed on the "door is tightly closed" bit. In two, the door is a partly-open curtain and in one the door isn't there at all. :)

Also, @tsadkiel - for the sake of educating us uninitiated plebes, what the frell is an Empire waistline?

@Saracenus: I love it, especially that third one. Thank you! :)
You are very welcome. That last image is super striking and I am quite proud of it (there were like 4-5 previous tries that just didn't quite look right), It took awhile.

I finally had to hand engineer the prompt because if I let GPT-4 do it the character count would get bloated. GPT-4 helped me cut it down initially, but my dialing in was some creative choices and guesswork until it finally got it right.

Just for giggles, I put that final image into GPT-4v and told it to analyze it... here is what it said...

Certainly! Here's a detailed breakdown following the provided guidelines:

Medium:

  • Digital art with intricate detailing, resembling the style of a graphic novel.
Subject:

  • A fantasy-inspired character, possibly an elf or a magical being, given the pointed ears and ornate attire.
  • Colors: The subject predominantly features deep purples and violets, with secondary colors including the pale color of the skin and gold jewelry accents.
  • Pose: Confident, commanding, and serene.
  • Viewing Angle: Straight-on with the subject centrally placed.
Background:

  • A beautifully detailed moonlit forest scene framed with intricately designed columns featuring organic motifs, possibly indicating the character's deep connection to nature.
  • Environment: Outdoor, with distant mountains and a moonlit sky.
  • Colors: Deep blues and whites create a night-time ambiance. These colors contrast the subject's warm purples, making the character stand out.
  • Lighting: Moonlight with soft ambient lighting that highlights the subject and the surrounding foliage.
Style Traits:

  • Influences: This piece appears to be influenced by fantasy graphic novels or even Art Nouveau given the organic, flowing lines.
  • Technique (Digital): The art likely uses digital software such as Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop. Features a combination of fine line work, detailed shading, and gradient coloring. The organic motifs and detailed character design suggest careful digital brushwork.

Everyone has explained it nicely. I managed to produce my "truth universally acknowledged" post with Empire waistlines by having the AI draw Jane Austen herself and not mentioning the clothing, and even then about a third of the pictures produced didn't have one.
