Needs some adjustment for the broken staff, but a very cool style.

I did some in a high quality digital art style, and these were some of the better ones.

More watercolor.

And then, joy of joy I discovered that "ink and wash painting" gets that classic Chinese art style!

I like the background characters in these two.

This one came out quite gritty/gnarly/ferocious.

Fun dynamic move.

The way the robe flows on this one is very cool.

Pouncing leopard in the background!

A few without backgrounds. The second looks like he just slid into frame...

Have some kicks!

The way his eyes are closed in this one looks nicely meditative.

And then there was this hillarous one...

Overall I'm quite pleased and even impressed how it's managed to translate the Kung Fu movements and stances with the digitigrade legs.

That was my experience as well. And a lot of the results were unsuitable, with the characters sitting sideways or facing the viewer.

OK, testing that structure from @Saracenus seems like this may be a fruitful approach.
