Fixing point buy or array to be higher is fairly trivial. The question is of how to adjust the rolling method to keep pace?

I definitely think that's better than attaching stat boosts to game concepts that should be focused on narrative and aesthetics.
on the other hand, +2/+1 or +1/+1/+1 is there to "fix" too many odd scores that can be generated.

That is why only roll method I like is:

(4d3D1)×2
it goes from 6-18 and about averages out at 5d6D2.

2D20, take the highest?
Average is just under 14.

6D4 drop the lowest 2?
Average is 12.16.

1d10+6?

3d4+2d6, drop the lowest?

I'm sure there is something.
Since I think we can mostly agree that just getting a +1 or +2 to a stat isn't really that important, why not just get rid of it?
I'd be fine removing stats.

Or maybe compromise and remove it the big stuff like HP, to-hit, AC, and DCs. But leave it for the rest, like +damage and spells knows and skills. So an 12 Str fighter can still be viable, if not good.

I didn’t see much talk on the new races. What kinds of abilities do they grant now?
Dwarfs get temmorsense proficiency (i assume) times per day, and 120' darkvision.

Tieflings get 1 resistance and a level 1, 2, and 3 spell they can cast 1/day. Can cast again with spell slots.

Probably a little weaker overall to make up for the feat your now getting from the background.

ability scores for ability checks.

rest is replaced by proficiency bonus, and since it's from +2 to +6 it will not change much or anything at all.

No, these Species look to be on the same power budget as before, but with the ASI moved to Background. The Feat us a definite boost in power, but one that every book since Mythic Odysseys if Theris has been giving PCs, so not much of a big deal.
