My school cafeteria called them Walking Tacos

Probably should've been called Running Tacos as I'm sure ten minutes later you'll be running to the bathroom

I was introduced to adding chili (and occasionally cheese) to bags of Fritos here in D/FW in 1982. Everyone called them Frito Pies.

These came to my area in '82, sold by a restaurant called Petro's. So everyone in my home region calls it a petro.

Never seen or heard of such a thing. Looks like a terrible American version of nachos with fritos instead of proper tortilla chips.

Closest food I'm aware of is the Irish spice bag.

I'm originally from the Midwest (US), and am now in the Southeast.

Top two (in the bag) I would call Walking Tacos - first saw them at a cub scout campout several years ago.

Bottom two I would probably think were some kind of ad-hoc Nacho attempt. I don't think I've seen them like that made with Fritos or Doritos but not served in a bag.

In my head a Frito Pie would be something that was baked.

A Taco Salad would have lettuce and tomatoes as big ingredients along with whatever else.

I think I have seen a Chili Pie that was cornbread over chili.

I only recently encountered these for the first time at a work potluck, and they were called "walking tacos" there.

I can live with the venerable Frito Pie having odd names like Walking Taco or Chili Pie, but it hurts my heart to hear people say it looks disgusting. Do you like chili? Do you like Fritos? Cheese? Then odds are good you'll like a Frito Pie.

I learned from my father, a Texan, how to make Frito Pie. By learn I mean we just poured Fritos over our chili and ate it. It ain't complicated.

I grew up in New York, now I live in Massachusetts.
I have never actually seen that food before, except in pictures on the internet.

I know (and have made) Frito Pie as a baked casserole, same basic ingredients, but not fast food.
