Honestly, it mostly can still work fine for any Edition.Oh don't worry about that, the 3e book is one of the few 3e books that I've kept with me instead of leaving in storage. It isnt going anywhere!

I wouldn't read that much into which areas got mentioned, it did not seem theybwere giving a complete picture of what was in the book with those listed.Chapter 2: BG Focused about 30 pages roughly
Chapter 3: Icewind Dale Focus, about the same for amount of paged roughly. Mention the New Aevendrow city.
Chapter 4. Same as above for Dales and Myth Drannor (that is the big Elven Megadungeon most likely)
Chapter 5. Moonshae/Feywild Focused
They didn't say that there would not be an Adventure, either (in fact, they didn't say much). They did mention the Red Wizards of Thay, and one of the only things which we know about forthcoming Adventure products is that they were working on something with the Red Wizards in it...and thianwould be a good place for that. They said nothing about an adventure in the book, possibly to give more room for lore and because goodness knows there are plenty of FR adventures already.
True that, I do go back to it from time to time for ideas rather than just a read. You can even take ideas from the game mechanics and port them over to 5e, such as converting prestige classes to subclasses or using them as an idea for a new feat.Honestly, it mostly can still work fine for any Edition.
Actually, given the split into two full hardcovers, I think it is way more likely that combined they can be comparable to the FRCS as a resource, they suggested their goal was to not repeat information between the books.
Just glancing at the regional Level 1 Feats from the FRCS...and a lot of them would fill conceptual gaps from the 2024 PHB, even ones that could be easily any world and not just Faerun.
silvery barbs 3: the session never happened.Silvery Barbs II: We'll make you reroll stuff from 10 minutes earlier in the game
In the Direct, they said they wanted to seperatr the information out between what only the DM needs from what both the players and DM will want...so for the DM, the two books are a full package.Where did they say their goal was to not repeat information?

I would expect the DM's book will have a Bestiary.
In fact, it would not surprise me if the two books between them were conceived at one time as a three Parr slipcase like Spelljammer/Planescape...
Whelp, of the DM book includes a 60-70 page Bestiary, and a 60-90 page mini-Campaign...I will be suspicious, is alls I'm saying. The setting was always too big for that, I think it was closer to an E: RftLW type book that got split into 2 when they realized FR is too big and lore rich for that.
I mean they tried a small book for FR already the SCAG and it got roasted.
So no I don't think it was ever a slipcase.
Yeah. When I posted that I knew it wasn't technically part of the sword coast, just like the far north isn't as well. My point is that almost all of the noted locations are along that coastline.Sort of, while Calimshan is techniques on the Swordcoast, it's considered part of the separate region called the Lands of Intrigue. The Lands of Intrigue was a collective term used to describe the nations of Amn, Calimshan, Muranndin, Erlkazar, Velen and Tethyr.
It's really the city states of the Swordcoast North and it's islands that is really what folks mean by the Swordcoast Region. The SCAG really didn't go into anything but super duper details about Calimshan for that reason.
The D&D Beyond write-up specifically says the book will focus on "five in-depth setting guides for iconic locations in the Forgotten Realms" and then mentions:I wouldn't read that much into which areas got mentioned, it did not seem theybwere giving a complete picture of what was in the book with those listed.
