Likeable characters, interesting story, intriguing themes.

The stage had to be set in series one. A very different Middle Earth than the one in Lord of the Rings/Hobbit. Now we get to see what they do with it. Can’t wait.

Makes me want to play Adventures in Middle Earth again.

I am still assuming the stranger is Gandalf. We know he's Istari. Apparently we will find out this season.

I like that:
The rings are being made at a time of great need.
Orcs are loyal to their creator/father rather than some upstart Lt of Morgoth.
I'm learning new ways to pronounce things/places/names. Nouns.

The dark wizard plot. Hopefully he is just confused Saruman.

I’m pretty sure he has an aptitude for fire and stone which would chime with Saruman. I’d find that more cool if he was Saruman to be honest.

It is great to finally have a prequel story for LotR faithful to JRR's vision, unlike that fan fiction that his son published after his death.

Honestly, give me a whole season of the Istari and the hobbits. The rest is okay, but I'd happily watch whole episodes of their journeys.
