D&D (2024) Hobby Store Exclusive (Special Cover) PHB Pre-Orders Cancelled

They released a statement saying there was a delayed release date. As another poster stated... are we sure WotC is actually cancelling pre-orders,... that they haven't already implemented a solution... or that the info we received secondhand is accurate? I'll wait until there is more first hand evidence before condemning them on something like this.

That lack of information is part of what would be addressed by something like my previous post.

I didn't pre-order, so I can't comment on whether or not things are being canceled.

Though, I imagine that detractors (who also didn't pre-order) will fill the silence with their own version of events.

As said, it's better to be pro-active.

Because you know exactly what happened and why... sort of like our earlier discussion around the complexity of having both 2014 and 2024 options in DDB. Simple... right?
I do not know what happened, but I do know that WotC is keeping silent, and that is what my complaint is about

And to the DDB complexity, I’d say I won that one, they got the change implemented in time…

Yep better to speak quickly than intelligently... I guess.

With a ton of bugs (some that made 2024 things unplayable) that are still being hashed out... so no I wouldn't say you won that one.

lol, look who is talking. You are so fast to defend WotC that you do not even pause to understand the point I am making

I am blaming WotC for a lack of communication, what communication of theirs do I need to wait for before I can do so

are they related to the changes they needed to do and were introduced because of them?

I haven't defended anything. WotC put out a statement stating there are delays. The information that WotC underprinted was a secondhand account from a distributor... What am I defending? That they haven't addressed a single email? Your point is that they should say something when in fact WotC may not even be aware that this single email claiming they underprinted was sent. You're missing my point... you're calling for a specific action without having any real information. I could understand your point even more if this in some way affected you or you had first hand experience with the cancellation... you don't.

Yes.

Do not accuse me of the behavior you are demonstrating
No my disagreements with you are about assumptions and lack of knowledge. I'm saying lets wait and see what they say once they've had time to investigate, and understand the problem and it's effects... You're saying they should do X regardless of what that info and understanding might result in.

Quickly without being unintelligent is also something that an early statement crafted by a PR professional would cover.

Such a person would also have standard press release templates to cover such things.

Magic the Gathering has a person who fills his role (and you can find his profile on Linked-In).

Does the same position exist for D&D?
If yes, who are they?
If no, why?

Early in the thread we saw that NZ game distributors had directly talked to WotC and told them they wouldn't be reprinting. So they are as "intelligent" as they are going to get, having looked at their options, picked one, and communicated it to game distributors.

So at this point it would be "speaking slowly and intelligently", yet they are still not doing that.

And again... a statement was made, thee is a delay in the release date of the books. It is not the statement some want I guess...
